Falkland House School receives ‘Very Good’ inspection from the Care Inspectorate

School rated ‘Very Good’ in supporting young people’s rights and wellbeing

Following an inspection in early April 2024, we are delighted to announce we have been rated as ‘Very Good’ by the Care Inspectorate.

The inspection was carried out over two days in early April and included inspectors speaking to staff, young people, parents, and visiting professionals, as well as observing practice within the daily life of the school.

The report, which is now available on the Care Inspectorate website here, commented on the significant strengths in aspects of care for young people, and the positive outcomes they achieve. In addition, the report commented on the positive impact of the clinical team, which has helped to develop a therapeutic environment in the school in which children and young people could thrive.

Our outdoor learning provision also received excellent feedback, as did the broader range of experiential learning which includes leadership opportunities, voluntary and paid work, music and sporting interests and agricultural and gardening groups.

The team were really pleased with the outcome of the report, highlighting one comment from the Care Inspectorate as being particularly pleasing.

“The compassion and affection with which staff cared for young people was apparent in their practice…with relationships between staff and young people being warm and good humoured.”

We were also delighted with the feedback from some of our parents which included:

“I really feel part of things with my son’s care, and that gives me confidence in the school.”

A huge thank you to all of our young people, parents and staff who took part in the inspection, we are so proud!
