This year, three of our pupils showed an interest in cross country, prompting us to enter them into the Scottish Schools’ Cross-country Championships at Hopetoun House near South Queensferry.
The course was hilly and challenging: 3km for Zach, who competed in the Under-14s, and 4km for Leo and Ciaran who competed in the Under-15s. All three represented Falkland House School admirably and gave their best efforts, showcasing true spirit and determination. Well done, boys!
Coinciding with their participation in the Cross-country Championships in March, we had a surge of interest in running from pupils keen to explore a healthy lifestyle. Mr Melville kindly donated some running gear to get the boys started and the journey began in earnest.
Dylan got involved with the NHS couch to 5k program, and joined the Parkrun community in Pittencrieff Park with the support of Mr Melville, while Zach and Archie took part at Lochore Meadows along with Mr Shaw and Mr Melville.
And Mr Melville undertook his own challenge when, at the end of April, he impressively completed the Highland Fling Ultramarathon – 85km along the West Highland Way – in a touch under 12 hours, crossing the finish line with a big smile!
