MP Stephen Gethins pays a visit to FHS

Today, staff and pupils at Falkland House School will host a visit from MP Stephen Gethins.

The school, which recently received excellent marks in a combined inspection by the Care Inspectorate and HMIE, is highly praised by pupils and parents alike. Pupils with additional support needs are given the opportunity to learn in ways that really help them to succeed academically. They take part in a number of exciting extracurricular activities out with the classroom, and have the chance to take part in work placements which help the boys to prepare themselves for life after school. The boys are very excited to meet Mr Gethins, and they can’t wait to give him a tour of their classrooms and tell him about their current studies.

Director of Falkland House School, Stuart Jacob said ‘We are delighted to welcome Mr Gethins to our school to meet with the pupils and talk about some of our current projects. Falkland House School prides itself on achieving excellence across the board. The standard of care and learning experiences we provide our pupils is second to none, and it’s great for visitors to the school to be able to experience this first hand.’

As well as being one of the first independent schools in Scotland to gain recognition by the Autism Socety, Falkland House School also holds the UNICED Rights Respecting School Award. This award recognises Falkland House’s continued commitment to putting the United Nations Convention on the rights of the child at the heart of the schools planning, policies, practice and ethics

Sports day fun in the sun

Falkland House School finished off a very busy academic year with a whole school sports day followed by a celebrating success day.Wednesday proved the perfect time for our sports event; there were clear blue skies and soaring temperatures all day.

We started with athletics in the morning with the boys doing activities such as the long jump, 60 metre sprint and shot-put. After a break for water and lots of sun cream we headed out to the community sports field again for touch rugby. There was a round robin event with three teams taking part. Following lunch everyone went along to the cricket pitch for a round of quick cricket, lots of the staff came out to support us all and help to field! The day was finished off with a game of football where we had mixed teams of teachers and pupils all competing for the final win of the day.
